Welcome on aboard SV/ JUCA

Our philosophy is to live in peace and harmony with each other and to have lots of fun doing it! We practice compassion and unconditional love and experience that there are no mistakes only stepping stones while we grow on our journey.

We have sold our house in August 2009 and moved from Mangawhai / New Zealand to Norfolk/Virginia to board our Sailing Vessel Juca in January 2010.

Juca is the name of our beautiful 60 foot Morgan, and the name is a creation of the first initials of our amazing inspiriations, Julia and Carlos.

I hope you all will enjoy reading our blog and following our travels around the Caribbean.

Paining the town red

Our day evolved around our usual routine, so nothing of great interest to report on. When we went for a little Dinghy drive around Simpson Bay we came across the biggest single mast sailing boat of the world “Mirabella V”. Sitting alongside in our Dinghy to it, it’s massive to look at. To hire it for a week cost you a bit under $ 300000, I believe that is a real bargain! Its 300 feet long and the mast if around 264 feet high…wow, if you would like to know more, look it up on the internet. At night we had been invited to explore St. Martin with Vicky and Mike; we took Julia and Carlos with us. First we had a drink for “Happy Our” at Barnacles; the place to be if you are a sailor cruising the Caribbean and anchoring in Simpson Bay, St. Martin. After “Happy Our” we piled into the little car of Mike and Vicky, size of a Mini Cooper and started to paint the town red. First we went for a little drive around town and ended up in a restaurant with the name Cheri’s Cafe, here they had life entertainment. Live Music and a little show, we had a not so good few cocktails but enjoyed each other’s company and had a good laugh or two. The other entertainment was a dance display on the street, it felt like being in a Carnival show. We all had a great night and enjoyed the nightlife of St. Martin.
