Today we got invited by the Nanny Cay Sailing Club to join them for a sail over to Peter Island. What a great opportunity for Julia and Carlos and me, unfortunately Sven was busy and could not join us. We met at 9 o'clock down at the dock. The site of 25 children and 12 parents was overwhelming. I haven't seen so many kids in ages. We got our instructions, got diveded into the different sailing boats and then we prepared for our trip to Peter Island. We had to set the sails, put on our life jackets and then we left the harbour of Nanny Cay. It was very windy and the little boats were very fast and it was a lot of fun to be riding the waves with the sail and the wind. Just 15 minutes or so after we had left the harbour a few stormy clouds came towards us and what do you know it started to rain and blew like hell. Julia and Carlos were in different boats and the sea got quiet rough and I kept my eyes on their boats. I have to admit I was a bit worried, but luckily it did not last too long and once the sun came out again everything turned to pleasure again. I was soaking wet after that ordeal, but nearly dry by the time we arrived Peter Island. We tied our boats on the concrete dock at Peter Island and had a little picnic. Once all the cookies and the water was empty we started to explore the island. It was fun watching the kids running around in the bush and the ruins of old empty houses. After the kids had enough of running around we went back to the boats and had a smooth sail back to Nanny Cay. What an awesome day we had and I learned quiet a bit from this"little" sailing trip.... I can see why people get addictive to sailing....I love it more and more each time I am out there!!
