Welcome on aboard SV/ JUCA

Our philosophy is to live in peace and harmony with each other and to have lots of fun doing it! We practice compassion and unconditional love and experience that there are no mistakes only stepping stones while we grow on our journey.

We have sold our house in August 2009 and moved from Mangawhai / New Zealand to Norfolk/Virginia to board our Sailing Vessel Juca in January 2010.

Juca is the name of our beautiful 60 foot Morgan, and the name is a creation of the first initials of our amazing inspiriations, Julia and Carlos.

I hope you all will enjoy reading our blog and following our travels around the Caribbean.

Time is flying

Oh Gosh I cannot believe that we have got the beginning of November and that I haven't had a single entry on the blog during October. How come? I have to admit after our little Holiday in Puerto Plata in the Lifestyle Resort I have found it really hard to get back into a routine again, but no worries, here we are again back to Reality!
What has been happening in the last month! As already mentioned we went on a little holiday into the Lifestyle Resort, but this will be a litte story on its own. Julia and Carlos have been busy and worked hard on their homeschool chores and we already finished our yearly test. Whooo what an eyeopener and nightmare for all of us. My expectations and their performance did not match at all and it turned the whole experience of testing into a bad taste. Never mind I do hope they will forgive me and will forget that terrible week of testing, I promise you both next time I will prepare you better for my sake and yours!!!

Tony and Rosemary from the SV English Rose have been kindly let us borrow their kayak and Julia and Carlos had a lot of fun with it.

Halloween came and went and with it was the excitement of preparing a costume for Julia, which turned into a beautiful dress for her and she looked like a queen that night..... she just looked georgus in it.... but the Halloween story I will also wrtell you in more details in a few days....... so watch this space
At the moment we are following closely the movement of Hurrican Tomas. This has been going on now for at least a week.... Tomas came as a huge depression from Africa, nearly the size of the Carribean. It seems to move from a Hurrican into a Tropical Storm to turn into a depression again to move into Hurrican again...... it can't really make up its mind. First it was going to hit the Dominican Republic, but luckily it moved enough to the west so that it has missed us so far and all we got is a bit of rain. Puhhhh...... Did you know that Hurrican Tomas is now already the 20st Hurrican this year, unreal! I never knew that so many Hurricans are moving through the Carribbean, so this is a total new experience and Sven and I we are both not sure, if we like that. Ususally all we hear, if the Hurricans have been devastating to the islands or Mainland.
However we are nearly at the end of the Hurrican season and its about time to leave this place. We have been here now for nearly 4 months and I am getting itchy wings and would like to move on and explore the other parts of the Carribbean. Luckily our anchor winch part, that we have been waiting for so long has finally arrived and that means, weather permitting, Sven will get onto repairing the anchor winch and then it is no more pulling the anchor up by hand....yahuuuuu... and we can sail into the next sunset.......
