Welcome on aboard SV/ JUCA

Our philosophy is to live in peace and harmony with each other and to have lots of fun doing it! We practice compassion and unconditional love and experience that there are no mistakes only stepping stones while we grow on our journey.

We have sold our house in August 2009 and moved from Mangawhai / New Zealand to Norfolk/Virginia to board our Sailing Vessel Juca in January 2010.

Juca is the name of our beautiful 60 foot Morgan, and the name is a creation of the first initials of our amazing inspiriations, Julia and Carlos.

I hope you all will enjoy reading our blog and following our travels around the Caribbean.

Lots of things are happening

I haven't updated the blog for a while, and I feel a bit bad about it, but believe it or not, each day I have been running out of time :) It started with Carlos getting sick, it was nothing serious only a little bit of cold and running a fever, but it still kept me busy during the night and it probably took a week to get over it. After that we picked up our social life again, meeting the people in Luperon, playing with the newly made friends Avery and Kayle . Then we had few problems with the owner of one of the restaurants and we ended up going to court with that issue, again nothing serious, but still it occupied my mind as we do not speak any spanish and we are in a foreign country, but luckily we got that organised and the very same day, somthing else happened where we had to defend our honour as sailors. Luckily the week after that the focus of attention was on our friend Sarah and we stayed by her side to the rescue, and so on and so on. Before we started our journey on the boat someone said to me, oh you will have so much time and might even get bored on the boat... excuse me, but I am probably in the wrong movie or book, because Mr. Time has not really introduced itself to us, so most of my books are still sitting untouched on the shelves. However we are still having a good time here and enjoying each moment as much as we can. We attend our weekly Trivial Pursuits nights, and my team won, yeah. Sarah and me are in one team and we reckon to have us on the team is the secret to win the Trivial Pursuit nights..... Yahooooo! Go Girls. Homeschooling is still written big on the boat, very much to the dislike of Carlos. However I had the pleasure to see the growing interest in Carlos drawings. It is amazing what little details he comes up with while he is drawing... I love it and very much appreciate it that I can give him the time to explore that side of him more and more. Julia is as always in love with her books and reading, with the only difference now that she can understand and read the words in the books. Very delightful to hear the improvement in her reading.
