Welcome on aboard SV/ JUCA

Our philosophy is to live in peace and harmony with each other and to have lots of fun doing it! We practice compassion and unconditional love and experience that there are no mistakes only stepping stones while we grow on our journey.

We have sold our house in August 2009 and moved from Mangawhai / New Zealand to Norfolk/Virginia to board our Sailing Vessel Juca in January 2010.

Juca is the name of our beautiful 60 foot Morgan, and the name is a creation of the first initials of our amazing inspiriations, Julia and Carlos.

I hope you all will enjoy reading our blog and following our travels around the Caribbean.

Sextant Lesson on SV "Sandy Dreams"

Meet Ryan from SV " Sandy Dreams" who has joined our teaching team on JUCA . Today Ryan was so kind to teach Julia and Carlos how to use the sextant. I printed staff out from the internet, so that they both could read about the history and what a sextant is and Ryan taught them how to use this important navigation instrument.... cool stuff! Julia, Carlos, Jen and myself believe that he has done a marvelous job.....thank you so much for taking the time and being so patient with them.
What a treat for us, to have SV “Sandy Dreams” anchoring right next to us. Ryan and Jen have taken their friends Julie, Jeremy and son Karsten as well as Julia, Carlos on a fishing trip. It feels like that our children are on a holiday camp with SV “Sandy Dreams”. They have been taken them on little drifting dingy fishing trips inside Rodney Bay. A few days ago they went to Pigeon Island with Ryan and Jen. Guess what they have witnessed during their visit there? A sea turtle that was digging her nest to lay her eggs….. how cool is that? I am so jealous, as this is on my bucket list to see. Yesterday we all went to the Carnival in Castries together and having so many adults including another boy with us on this trip, was a lot of fun. It always feels strange having the boat to ourselves, and we do miss Julia and Carlos very much; however we do enjoy the tranquility on the boat when the kids are not there. Today we went over to the Marina and enjoyed a coffee crunch ice-cream as well as a hot chocolate and a cappuccino.
