Welcome on aboard SV/ JUCA

Our philosophy is to live in peace and harmony with each other and to have lots of fun doing it! We practice compassion and unconditional love and experience that there are no mistakes only stepping stones while we grow on our journey.

We have sold our house in August 2009 and moved from Mangawhai / New Zealand to Norfolk/Virginia to board our Sailing Vessel Juca in January 2010.

Juca is the name of our beautiful 60 foot Morgan, and the name is a creation of the first initials of our amazing inspiriations, Julia and Carlos.

I hope you all will enjoy reading our blog and following our travels around the Caribbean.

A New Year - sailing to Norman Island

We had a long sleep in on our first day in 2011. We had made no specific plans for the day and wanted to make up our mind as we go along. Bob and Jamie had decided to sail over to Norman Island and had asked us whether we wanted to join them. We did not really know what to know, as we are a bit handicapped with no anchor winch. They left at 10 am and promised to let us know if they are any mooring balls and if they could hold one for us. When Jonathan and Monet also left an hour later to sail to Norman Island, we quickly got our body and mind into gear and followed both of them. By that time Jamie had already emailed us that they were holding a mooring ball for us, so we knew for sure we had a place to stay for the night. By two we were ready to leave and it took us only an hour to go to Norman Island and it was a very pleasant trip. The wind was up and the sun was shining, it felt good to feel the breeze on my skin and hair, these are the moments I love the best. When we arrived in Norman Island we were please that Jamie and Bob had tied their dinghy to a mooring ball, because the bay was packed with cruisers. Wow, the Bay of Norman Island looked so inviting, they had a beach, and the water invited us to jump into it straight away. We were so happy that we made that move and followed our friends. We said hello to everyone, ended up having a beer or two on “Calibra” and settled on JUCA for an early night.
