More Carnival Celebration in Castries

Today with the adult parade it came to the highlight of the Carnival, as well as to the end of a month celebrating Carnival in St. Lucia . It was suppose to start at 4 in the morning, so 10 of us caught the bus at about noon. Due to the fact that the center of Castries was closed for the Parade, we had the luxury of a sightseeing tour with the public bus. He had to take us via the back route to Castries. Once we arrived in town we strolled through Castries and started to get the vibe of the ongoing carnival celebration. The inner city had become a walking zone and lots of local people had lined the roads to supply the increasing crowd with food and drinks. It was hot and fortunately once in a while there was a breeze going through town. We had to wait for ages for the parade to pass us, and in the meanwhile we had something to drink and to eat. I suppose we were on true Island time. Finally the first lot arrived, but I have to say their costume was not as mesmerizing as the once we had seen the week before at the kids parade. There were long gaps in between the parade and we had probably to wait for another half an hour before the next lot arrived. After lots of fun and heat and loud music, we took Julia and Carlos home and relaxed on the boat with a swim and another cold drink out of our cold freezer.
